Merchant Category Codes
Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) determine whether a purchase will be allowed from specific companies or categories of businesses, assuming account limits and other controls do not intervene. Each code can be open or closed on a card by card basis. Charges from a merchant whose MCC code is closed will be declined at the point of sale. Special needs or variances should be discussed with the Program Administrator.

| MCC | The numeric Merchant Category Code assigned to a company or type of business |
| Description | Company name or type of business |
| Closed | If an 'X' appears, this category is closed by default, and charges on the Purchasing Card will be declined. Contact the Program Administrator to discuss changes. |
| Open | If an 'X' appears, this category is open and available to all Purchasing Cards. |
